MERLIN AND DIGGITTY DAWG NAPPING

MERLIN AND DIGGITTY DAWG NAPPING

I went to the pound to adopt a white female that I had seen on their website. When I arrived, this no-kill shelter was in the process of trying to bring in some new animals and were desperate for space. They talked me into the white 1 year old female and two white baby boys. I knew I couldn't keep that many with my two at home, so I gave one of the little twins to my daughter. They named him Yuki and like my Merlin, they are puppy cats. Yuki ended up with a tail that lays straight across his back instead of waving around like most cats, and is smaller. He will wait on furniture or counters for my daughter to walk by and land perfectly on her shoulder and ride around. Merlin follows my every step like a puppy and anticipates my every move. Both are shy of other people, basically one or two person cats. But those are very lucky people. Whatever breed they come from, they are not good with children or other cats. Not vicious, they just hide. But they love dogs. Any dog. Merlin also had a tiny black patch of fur between his ears like the article said. So I guess his masked color is black. Now, at a year old, the patch is gone.

TO JENIBELLE'S PERSON
by: Anonymous

I loved the story of her "take-off". That's too funny. No, none of them were deaf. But none of them have blue eyes. They are a yellow greenish color. I've always heard it is white animals with blue eyes that are a higher risk for deafness. Diggitty, the puppy laying with my puppy-cat has one blue eye and one brown. When a new vet sees him they always ask if he is deaf on the side with the blue eye. (I'm happy to report he is not.) I read Jenibelle's story and loved it. Thanks for sharing.

sleepy Merlin

Hi Kim,
I love the picture of Merlin and Diggitty dog. It's great that the two get along so well. I belong to Jenibelle. The cat who travels! My Jenibelle is totally deaf. She does not like kids or other people either. I am so glad that you commented on how we both come home and the first thing we do is look for our cats to scoop them up and love on them . My Jenibelle is fat and when she see's me coming to her she starts peeling out with her back legs (like a car spinning tires but going no where) but, when she gets traction she takes off fast. Its so funny:) I think your Merlin shows more compassion towards you. Maybe because of the opposite of sex. I'm a female and Jenibelle is a female and we do not have a compassionate bond like you and Merlin. Your lucky to have each other. I'm sorry to hear about Sophie. She is a diva. Sophie has amazing eyes and I wish all the best for Sophie.I'm not sure if I would bring another kitten into my home. I don't think Jenibelle would take that to kindly:/ Were any of the three kittens deaf? Keep in touch.

Shy Sophie
by: Jean from Tennessee

Well, I understand about one person cats -- my white cat Star Baby is a one person cat. She might get along with the right kind of dog but it would have to be a very mellow, laid back older dog I suspect. Looking forward to getting a look at Shy Sophie and hearing about her.

How's that little wizard Merlin?

Merlin
by: Kim

Yes, I will attach a picture titled Sophie. Unfortunately Sophie is too timid with other cats and has banished herself to the garage. We are trying desperately to find her a home where she can be an only cat. Strangely, like Merlin, she is just fine with dogs. And of course she is a people loving diva as well.

Magical!
by: Jean from Tennessee

What a precious picture! Merlin is definitely the very essence of sweetness and could capture any heart with just a flick of his little white tail. You mentioned a white female ... could you send us some info on and a picture of her too? Sounds like you have a beautiful home full of love and kitties. Thanks for sharing.

Puppy Cat
by: Claudia-Admin

Hi Kim,

Merlin is gorgeous. He truly looks like a magical cat. And it's quite interesting that he prefers dogs over other people and cats. He does look comfortable napping with the dog.

I also enjoyed reading about how you found him. I love "how I met my cat" type of stories and I enjoyed yours very much. I'm also happy that Yuki found a loving home as well. They were so fortunate to end up at the no-kill shelter.

Thank you for sharing their stories.
