My girl Mittens

Mittens is now almost 5 years old. The mother cat dropped her off with 3 other kittens. She was the runt of the litter. I had to drop on top of her, hold her to my chest for 30 minutes, then she was mine. Two years ago she started having seizures. The vet finally determined she had heartworms as she was coughing up blood. She went on 2 preventative meds and got better. She had two other times with more heartworms and almost died. She was put in an oxygen tent for 2 days. As a result of the heartworms she developed asthma and takes a half of a pill every day plus still has the other two meds. The ironic thing is that both my 23 year old son and I both had asthma as children. I am 51 and Mittens is like my baby. Every night she gets at the foot of the recliner and lies downn at my feet to sleep. When I do not wake up by 6 a.m. she gets in the bed and will finally lay on top of my chest till I do. She is very vocal and will fuss at you until you do what she wants. She also likes to get on the back of the couch or windowsill and look out the window. She does not go to most people except my husband. She irritates my other cat & is very jealous of her. She is a joy in my life.
