Ianto

At the end of last fall a pretty little tuxedo cat named Weevil turned up pregnant in out yard. She was sweet and affectionate but had obviously been abandoned by whatever owner she used to have and never left us. She very quickly adapted to being an indoor cat, taking to the litter box and learning quickly that a snap of my fingers or the use of a dog training clicker meant to stop doing something or get down from an area I didnt want her in. She loved food...absolutely any food. She also LOVED to play with absolutely ANYTHING. Her favorite toys are still the twisty thing from the top of a milk bottle and dust regardless of having a multitude of toys. We named her Weevil. On January 28th Weevil had 2 kittens, a little tortie girl who sadly was stillborn although we named her Ciara before burying her as she deserved to be loved as our kitty even if we never got to have a happy life together, and a VERY tiny tuxedo boy who at birth also was not breathing but who I managed to revive with CPR and who amazingly is now a smart sweet little kitten who seems as though hes going to make it. His name is Ianto after Ianto Jones from Torchwood, as he is always wearing a suit :) and because the name means "Gift from God" in Welch and that is just what Ianto is. He is at 9 weeks of age, still blind, deaf, and he has seizures, but he is a sweet baby boy who is cuddly and loving and has not been stopped from learning to use the litter box, play and act like a normal little kitten boy. He is starting to toilet train, on the actual toilet which is a trick his mother picked up easily as well, He can stand up and walk on his hind legs for 4 steps, a trick he came up with all by himself for some reason, and he can use the door knob and open the bedroom door to get to me when he wants to. He had to stop nursing and was bottle fed from the second week as for some reason Weevil stopped being able to nurse and just had no milk for him. But they are still the best of friends and play together all day long. Weevil has since been spayed and we are happily all living together with my orange coon mix Boe.

by: Claudia - Admin

I agree with Jean, Ianto is a a heavenly gift. And he's the cutest little bundle of furry joy. Thank you for sharing his picture. Weevil and Boe are adorable, too.

What is truly amazing is how you were able to save Ianto's life. A true miracle.

A perfect name -- Ianto
by: Jean from Tennessee

What a moving story! I was captivated from the start. A true gift from God - both Weevil and Ianto! It is very obvious that Weevil was led to your house because you were exactly what she and her kittens would need.

It's obvious Ianto is a very special little kitty and while he still has lot to overcome he seems to be making a good start. God Bless you and your kitties.

Thanks for sharing!
